The Chelsea 272 Series Power Take-Off Assembly, part number 272MBAJP-B5XD or 272MBAJPB5XD, is a 6-bolt hot shift PTO built for medium-duty applications in towing and recovery, aerial, construction, and water truck markets. It mounts with a 6-bolt pattern and features a 1-1/4" round output shaft with a 5/16" key. Shift is pneumatic (PowerShift), and the unit includes an integral air control valve. Continuous torque capacity reaches 300 lb-ft (407 Nm); intermittent torque is rated at 201-300 lb-ft (401-500 Nm). Output power exceeds 56 HP (41-50 kW). The 272 Series is compatible with transmissions from Allison, Eaton/Fuller, Ford, Aisin, Volvo/Mack, and RAM, among others. The Chelsea 272 Series consolidates several earlier medium-duty hot shift PTO lines including the 230, 231, 236, 238, 270, and 271 Series into a single versatile platform. The series offers nine speed ratios and eighteen shift options. Direct mount configurations are available with optional Wet-Spline technology for extended PTO and pump shaft service life. Driveshaft output configurations include the Smart-Start option, designed for high-torque start-up conditions where conventional PTOs may struggle. Rotatable flanges allow flexible installation orientation. Typical markets served include aerial work platforms, towing and recovery, construction equipment, and water trucks.
